5 Tips To Reduce Stress During Pregnancy

By | September 29, 2018

When a woman has stress during pregnancy, her unborn baby may be affected with potentially harmful effects on brain and development.

Here are some useful tips to help you reduce stress during pregnancy.

1. Do simple daily exercises

Exercising regularly is an excellent way to eliminate stress during pregnancy because it not only makes you feel great but also keeps you in shape. Slow and steady movements with awareness also secrete endorphins that help in fighting stress. So you can enjoy a stroll on the street to get some fresh air, go for a swim, or some pregnancy appropriate light yoga. These activities can help you stop nausea and get rid of leg cramps and stress.

2. Enjoy a soothing massage

Enjoying a soothing massage is another great way to reduce stress while pregnant. It not only relaxes your body and mind but also relieves tension and sore muscles. So you should try to get a massage once a week if possible. You can go to a beauty salon if you can afford it. Remember to request a special table that has room for your pregnancy belly. Or you can ask your husband to give you a massage if you don’t have money to go to the spa.

3. Drink plenty of water

Along with regular exercise and massage, eating healthy foods also helps pregnant women relieve stress. Many people eat everything they want during pregnancy, which makes them gain weight beyond their pregnancy weight. Meanwhile, some others are easy to be dehydrated because of loss of appetite and other sickness. So it’s important for you to drink plenty of water to eliminate certain toxins causing stress from your body. You should also consume more vegetables, fresh fruits, dairy, whole grains and nuts to be healthy during this period.

4. Be social

Hanging out with your best friends and exploring people who are positive, cheerful and bubbly can help you relax and relieve stress at the same time. Or you can join a mommy group, where you can communicate with others with similar issues. This will reduce stress while pregnant, too.

5. Limit information overload

It’s good for you to read pregnancy books and surf pregnancy websites, but remember not to delve into all the scary things that might happen during your pregnancy. This only brings you stress and threat.
